Safaricom plans to launch Mpesa debit card

There are rumours that Safaricom may be planning to launch an MPESA Debit card after partnering with VISA. With just 8M members or less, Banks have a really big problem now considering that Safaricom control over 23 million direct customers.

Safaricom’s valuation of Sh1.13 trillion at close of trading Thursday last week is now 50.7 percent of total investors’ wealth at the NSE. Crossing the 50 percent threshold means that Safaricom’s market worth is now more than the combined valuation of all the other 62 listed companies.
