1.6 vaccines donated to Kenya expires

Drug crime and investigation head of PPB Kenya, Dennis Otieno has cautioned authorities over unnecessary bureaucracy when it comes to clearing for emergency issues, such that have caused the disposal of 1.6 tonnes of vaccines from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Kenya.

This has been unearth after a letter by the storing firm at JKIA Swiss port emerged urging the concerned ministry to dispose off the vaccines donated by The Serum Institute India in 2017.

The donated vaccines expired July this year with the ministry admitting to have gotten several letters about the availability of the drugs before.

This has denied many Kenyans immunization against haemophilia, hepatitis B, influenza B, Whooping Cough, tetanus among other diseases.
